You might be suffering yourself. Otherwise you probably know someone close to you who does. Cancer is a heavy burden we bear together and we might not be able to control the disease, but we can control how we visualize it in a loving and gentle tone.

As part of the Danish Cancer Society's new visual identity, the organisation also needed a new illustration style. As the Danish Cancer Society deals with heavy and sensitive subjects, it was important that the illustrations radiated personality and warmth and had the human being in focus. I have built the illustrations around a red monoline stroke with lively crosses and twists based on the recognizable red bow logo of the Cancer Society. The concept for the illustrations has been developed in collaboration with the design agency AM Copenhagen, which is also behind the rest of DCS’s impressive new visual identity (soon to be fully revealed).

Illustrations for each a specific cancer type. The character needed to be as androgynous as possible for the highest level of inclusiveness.
