Anyone who has lived with one or more roomies knows all about the conflicts that almost inevitably arise in the home. Usually centered around topics like money and practical duties. As more and more people choose to live in shared housing, the greater the need to effectively and caringly tackle the challenges of the home community. That’s where the Rumi web-app comes into picture. Rumi was designed as a virtual helper that brings together all the key functions of the household: Calendar, budget, filing, chores, shopping, communication and communal dining.
By having all the features gathered in one digital forum, the app can assist and communicate with the residents, so that agreements are not broken and creating basis for disagreements.
The app's design is based on 5 illustrated characters- the 'staff' of the house. They each represents a function of the app. Meet cleaning cat, economy dog, calendar mouse, cooking bird & archive bunny.
The illustration style is simple, naive and inspired by handcrafted linocut. The friendly looking characters help to reduce conflict and make coordination at home more enjoyable and personalized. Nobody can get annoyed by a cute cartoon dog can they?
